West Central Marine's vision is to establish a marine dealership in Saskatchewan specializing in sailboats, sailing hardware, and catering to sailors, sailing schools, & yacht clubs throughout Saskatchewan. Although there is a large fleet of Lasers and Hobie's we aim to introduce new lines that not only cater to the racing crowd but also the cruising crowd. That said, West Central Marine aims to work closely with the sailing clubs in Saskatchewan to help promote the sport of sailing to all age groups through support of various sailing initiatives throughout Saskatchewan.
West Central Marine's focus is on providing a high level of customer satisfaction through sales, service, and continued support for their customers. We provide value to our customers through education and invite customers out to try our demo boats when available. No sale is final until we have had a chance to show you the product, educate you on the product, and even test the product out on the water. We want our customers to walk away with the confidence that they made the right choice in product and the right choice in purchasing from West Central Marine. Your investment is important and we want you to be happy with it for many years to come.
West Central Marine was established in 2013 by Shawne Hancock an avid sailor in Saskatoon, Sk. Shawne learned to sail on BC's west coast sailing around the gulf islands with his grandfather and his uncle. Having sailed almost exclusively on cruising boats and small day sailors Shawne's experience with the cruising industry has been a passion for almost 20 years. Having sailed in places like the gulf islands, the Grenadines, Grenada, and locally on several lakes around Saskatoon, he is quite familiar with sailing, the marine industry, and many local sailing spots. His is also a member of the Lake Diefenbaker Yacht Club where he sails his Hunter 31' throughout the summer months with his spouse and 4 children. More recently, Shawne is both excited and proud to have been accepted to crew on the sailing yacht Dogsled a Kaufman 46' skippered by Todd Barnard in the 2016 Newport-Bermuda race.
Two years ago Jeff Sheppard joined West Central Marine. Having been a long-time friend and financial sounding board to Shawne, Jeff became the CFO for West Central Marine in 2014. Jeff's many years of experience and expertise in tax and accounting bring a well balanced approach to the daily operation of the business. Jeff being a power boater and a fisherman also brings knowledge and experience from the opposite spectrum of sailing and cruising. Jeff does most of his boating and fishing at his family cabin where he and his wife and 2 children spend much of their time throughout the summer.
